About Me

I am a freelance designer with a BFA in Graphic Design from Lyndon State College.  I work on web, print and digital design projects.  I have also acquired an intimate knowledge of many IT technologies and scripting languages, both for the web and local applications.  Outside of work, I enjoy being outdoors and being involved in the community.  I’m a licensed EMT in Vermont and New Hampshire, with a National Registry certification.

I grew up in Wilmington Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston. I attended public school where I found a passion for science/technology courses and live production.  During my time with Wilmington Public Schools I unintentionally acquired and created a senior lighting and sound technician position, where I found myself frequently working on productions for the school district and those that they leased space to. During elementary school I became involved in Boy Scouts, first with the local cub scout pack and then with Troop 56.  My experiences in school and scouts provided me the opportunity to learn some specific skills and further deepened my appreciation for my natural surroundings.  Additionally and possibly more importantly it provided a platform to explore many different topics in a variety of genres, from basketry to canoeing, first aid, art, cooking and computers with people I’d later consider friends.  My experiences and where I’ve come from have genuinely shaped who I am and how I work. I’m told by multiple individuals that there are noticeable traits and qualities apparently not evident in self reflection, that I should attribute to my experiences and that I’m different, but apparently it’s a good different.

While I have a long time to consider my options, thus far in life I believe that I’d eventually like to settle down in either Maine or Vermont.  Generations of Harvey’s have lived along the shore of Moosehead Lake in northern Maine.  The time that I’ve spent along those shores and exploring the area has been peaceful and inspiring.  Being familiar with the goings-on in the area has provided me the opportunity to work with The Friends of Squaw Mountain to get a neglected ski mountain operational again, and valuable experience working with non-profits and volunteers.  It was also while I was saying in Maine that I had the opportunity to evaluate EMS (Emergency Medical Services) as a possible career and opportunity to assist others in my community.

If you do take the time to get to know me, you might find that being helpful is one thing that has become so common for me my recent concern has been finding time for all the things I seek to do. I thoroughly enjoy making people happier and more successful than they were, by providing a service, filling a need or teaching.
